1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup ketchup
½ cup water
¼ cup finely chopped onion
2 tbsp minced garlic
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp molasses
2 tbsp spicy mustard
2 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp chili powder
2 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, or more if you like it hot)
Melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté until lightly browned. Add remaining ingredients (vinegar last), reduce heat and simmer over low for 20 minutes. Allow to cool. Optionally you can puree this sauce to make it a smoother BBQ sauce. I added slightly less vinegar to this recipe to make it more spicy than tangy. This sauce pairs perfectly with Pork Ribs!
