Sugar Cookies
2 ¾ Cup Flour, I use King Arthur
1 tsp Baking Soda
½ tsp Baking Powder
2 Sticks Butter, plus ¼ Cup ‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter’
1 Egg
1 ¼ tsp Vanilla
1 ½ Cup Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, beat sugar and butter until smooth. Mix in egg and vanilla until combined. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Incorporate the flour mixture into the butter mixture until combined. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and bake at 375 for 6-10 minutes for soft and chewy cookies. Bake longer for crispier cookies.
For the frosting:
5 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 ½ Stick Butter, melted
1 ½ Tbsp Vanilla
1 Tbsp Cream of Tartar
1-2 Tbsp Milk
Melt butter in a microwave safe bowl. Add vanilla, cream of tartar, and powdered sugar mixing until combined. Add milk a little at a time to get the desired consistency.
